Police Dismantle KillSec Ransomware Gang, Allegedly Led by 16-Year-Old
An international law enforcement operation, ‘Operation KillSwitch,’ has successfully dismantled the KillSec ransomware gang. The operation led to three arrests and the seizure of the group’s data leak site and servers. Investigators identified a 16-year-old as the alleged administrator of the KillSec group, which is accused of stealing data from approximately 500 organizations worldwide and demanding ransoms for its return. This disruption highlights the increasing involvement of young individuals in sophisticated cybercrime.
