Exploit Released for Unpatched Ubuntu Linux Container Escape Flaw

An exploit has been released for CVE-2026-80521, a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel’s AF_UNIX socket subsystem, which allows for container escape and root access on the host. While fixed upstream in August, Ubuntu has not yet released patches for its 26.04, 24.04, or 22.04 LTS releases. This unpatched flaw presents a significant risk for Ubuntu users running containers, enabling attackers to gain full control over the host system.
