Quarkslab conducted a black-box security analysis of Xiaomi’s proprietary MJA1 secure chip, used in their cameras to protect sensitive data. Lacking public documentation, researchers reverse-engineered the chip through hardware identification, I2C sniffing, and flash dumping. This process allowed them to map the chip’s command protocol, brute-force undocumented commands, and assess its security properties.
